Probably the loudest show I've ever been to Primus was on first (well, second, they had some shit boy band as the first band), and they were great for me at the time PE came out and blew a hole in the back of the Orpheum. Third row center for Anthrax, Primus, and Public Enemy at the Orpheum in Boston. Someone threw a shoe - it was the 90s, people did this for some reason - and he warned them that it angered the band and crew, which would result in vigorous sodomizing if it happened again. So I have no memory of anything he played. Sound in that arena was the worst I've ever heard. That made it a little busier and crazier though, so he slipped off after a minute. I'm not sure all of them knew who he was. When people saw someone signing something, I heard a lot of people rushing up behind me. "Hey, Les." He waved one of his giant praying mantis octopus arms back. Sitting up on some bleachers, I said to my girlfriend, "I think that's Les Claypool." Waved. We got there really early and Les was hanging around at the back of the auditorium. Les was in especially good form at that point - played some long solo sections that were especially busy and adventurous. I saw them in '91 opening for Anthrax and Public Enemy.
